I was flattered when representatives from the Mahomet Seymour Education Foundation asked if I would be a guest artist/teacher/designer for the 16th Annual Celebrate Art event. It seemed like a great opportunity to connect with high school students to promote careers in art + design and Parkland College's FAA program
Mahomet's theater was converted into a gallery space, full of work created by young creatives. In the commons area, I was joined by Dan Wild (caricature), Carol-Lynn Comparetto (potter), the Spinners and Weavers Guild of CU, and Megan Hind (printmaker/paper artist). The staff kindly provided food and drink for guests and presenters.
My table was an eclectic mix of Parkland College FAA promotional material, illustration books, insect specimens, magnifying devices, and natural history illustrations. Tried to have something for everyone. Surprisingly, the bugs and magnifying lens were the biggest attraction.
